FA Cup Reaction

Gillingham manager Ronnie Jepson and Bristol City manager Gary Johnson give the views on the thrilling FA Cup 2nd match which saw Gills bow out of the cup in thrilling fasion. Although City manager Gary Johnson claims that City were never really in danger of losing the tie.

Following the second round tie Gillingham boss Ronnie Jepson said, "We came back well, but by then the horse had bolted. I was hugely disappointed with the goals we conceded, although we could take something from the performance in the end.

"Soldiers in Iraq are brave. Goalkeepers are paid to take knocks and he will be fine.

"We have a lot of travelling to do in the coming days and I will need to look after the players. It's important we bounce back quickly from this result."

Bristol City manager was pleased with City's goals and said, "They were brilliant team goals and that's the sort I like best," he said. "Phil Jevons has shown his quality as a finisher in the first half and is full of confidence again.

"People have been suggesting I take him off in games during his lean spell, but no one was saying it today. He now has 11 for the season and that is an excellent return at this time of year.

"I have always had great faith in Jevo. He did very well for me at Yeovil and he will get 20 goals plus again this season providing he stays fit."

"We talked at half time about keeping things tight at 3-0 up, but in an FA Cup tie a team in Gillingham's position at that stage have nothing to lose and they managed to get some wind into their sails.

"I will look at the goals we conceded, but I never felt we were in danger of not winning the game."
