Jepson eyes four new signings

Gillingham boss Ronnie Jepson claims that he has identified four new players he wants to sign in the January transfer window. Gillingham are currently seven points off of both the play offs and the relegation zone, and the Gill's boss wans to add more players to increase the chance of promotion.

Speaking to the Kent on Sunday, Gillingham boss Ronnie Jepson said, " I know we need to add three of four players to the squad and hopefully I can do that come January.

"We have identified player we would like to improve the squad, and that is not having a go at the player in the current squad, but it is just to improve competition for places.

"It also strengthens things at my end; in the way I go with formations and things like that. So we are looking at that to maybe try and add a few more come January.

"I need competition in all areas. Nobody is guaranteed a shirt here. That's that way I'd like it in an ideal world anyhow, and that's why we need those extra bodies to give us that competition.

"Because if we get a couple of injuries, there isn't much room to manoeuvre, and that's a problem we can well do without."

This further increases speculation of a January exit for Gill's star Matt Jarvis. Jarvis has been linked with big money moves away from Priestfield and recently his agent rejected a contract offer for him. Scally also recently told Jepson no transfer funds would be available to sign new players and Jepson's ambition to sign new players makes it all the more likely of a January departure.
