Felix Bastians signs on loan

Felix Bastians, a German under 18 midfielder from Nottingham Forest today signed for Gillingham on the deadline day for loan signings. It Is widely expected that the promising youngster will feature in the squad for the long journey north to Carlisle.

Bastians, who has made 13 senior appearances for the City Ground club, has spent this season on loan at first Northwich Victoria, then Halifax town. He has impressed at both sides, especially at Halifax, where he scored four goals in nine appearances for the Yorkshire club.

Bastians, who has been with prestigious German clubs such as Vfl Bochum and Borrusia Dortmund, joins the Gills until the end of the season, following injuries to Matty Jarvis and Michael Flynn. He likes to get forward, as his goals tally shows, so should give Gillingham a vital edge at Brunton Park, a fortress for Carlisle this season.
