Deal or No Deal?

Eleven Gillingham players are now out of contract at Priestfield and on Tuesday will know whether they will be offered a new contract. We talk you through who we believe deserves a new contract, and who doesn't.

Ian Cox - Cox is 36 now and has really improved his game towards the end of this season - only for a new contract though. Was a liability at the start of the season and couldn't keep up with play. NO DEAL

Leon Johnson - Leon is a product of the Gills youth academy and is a decent player who can only improve with time. DEAL

Danny Jackman - Great player but is rumored to be on his way, would still want him at Priestfield next year though. DEAL

Brent Sancho - Last season was a different class, but that must have been to get into the T&T World Cup squad. He had some decent games at the start of this season but then got injured against Doncaster and hasn't been the same since. I am all but sure he will be released. NO DEAL

Michael Flynn - Club captain Flynn was a great all round player last season but isn't the same player since getting the captains armband. His goals return of 12 speaks for itself with his shooting boots but his passing and tackling is poor. Being the captain though he will most probably get a new contract, but for me I think it is time for Flynn to go and gives Crofts the armband. NO DEAL

Matt Jarvis - We all know Jarvis is capable of in this division and despite rumors that he told Gills fans he was staying last week, he looks certain to leave due to an agent that only wants to make himself some cash! DEAL

Danny Spiller - Used to be what Jarvis is now. Was linked with West Ham and Sunderland when we were in the Championship but got a nasty injury and struggled to get into Stan Ternent's squad. Injuries and what Ronnie described as 'personal problems' has prevented him playing half of this season but since January has been a fantastic player. Sometimes plays as a lone striker and has the Never Look Back character that got us into the Championship. Gives 110% every game and will be offered a new contract. But he is still on championship wages of 2,000 a week I believe which we can't afford to spend on one player at this time. DEAL

Luke Howell - Luke has been out on loan for part of the season and is a decent young defender who is a product of the youth academy. Should get a one year deal but whether Ronnie agrees is a different matter. DEAL

Clint Easton - Easton can play in midfield or defence and is a decent player and no Gillingham fan will forget the amazing 35-yard volley he scored against Millwall - with his eyes closed! Unsure as to whether he will get a new deal, depends on whether Jackman gets one, as they are both left side players. DEAL

Frannie Colin - Frannie is an exciting product of the youth academy and looks like one for the future. I would offer him a new contract but when we were safe Jepson said he would play his youngsters, and Frannie hasn't featured much in that time so maybe Jepson doesn’t rate him as highly as most Gills fans do. DEAL
