Jackman signs for Cobblers

Danny Jackman has today swapped Kent for Northampton Town, to link up with Stuart Gray who he worked with at Aston Villa. Jackman has moved to Cobblers on a free under the Bosman ruling, meaning that following the departure of Clint Easton, Jepson will have to look out for a new left back.

Jepson told BBC Radio Kent: "He proved a few points to me this season and by the end of the campaign he had certainly improved in a few areas.

"It will be sad to see him go, but all we're interested in is people who want to play at this football club."

Jackman, 24, signed for Gillingham from Stockport County in the summer of 2005. At Gillingham, Danny made 78 appearences for The Gills scoring two goals, one of which won Gillingham's goal of the season last season after a stunning long range effort against Brentford.

In his first season at Priestfield, Jackman won Player's Player of the Year, and Sponsors Player of the Year.

His departure does increase rumours as to whether former Gillingham player John Hills will return to the club having been released by Sheffield Wednesday.
