Chiefs travel to Kingston Park on Friday looking to spoil the Falcons hunt for points.
Chiefs look to spoil Falcon's hunt for points
Exeter Chiefs and Newcastle Falcons face each other on Friday evening for the 5th and final time this season. So far the spoils have been shared with the both sides winning their home games. That's not strictly true as the Falcons edged out the Chiefs in Scotland for one of their Amlin Cup games. However Friday's match has much more importance to both sides than the cup encounters. Chiefs are currently 9th in the Allied Premiership with 6 wins and 27 points and will be looking to secure points to help secure a second season of Premiership rugby at Sandy Park. On the other hand Falcons lie in 11th spot with 2 wins and 12 points and will be desparate to secure a win to keep some distance between themselves and Leeds who are just 3 points behind them in bottom place.
Friday's match comes just 2 weeks after Falcons defeated Chiefs at Kingston Park in the LV=Cup. The game was a pretty poor spectacle in the wet and on a sticky pitch. In contrast to this Chiefs beat Harlequins last week at Sandy Park on a sunny day with a dry pitch. However if there's one thing Exeter Chiefs have knowledge of it's playing in muddy, wet conditions from their days at the old County Ground. OK, there aren't many in the side who played there but today's Chiefs players have the ability to play Premiership rugby in any conditions. They will look to attack this game with the same vigour they have taken into every game this season, believing they can win it. Rob Baxter and the coaching team will have prepared them thouroughly and although it's likely to be a close fought game I fully expect the Chiefs ton add another 4 or maybe 5 points to this season's tally.

It can't be any more wet and sticky than the 2nd leg of the final at Bristol last season....we didn't do bad that night.

well with 4 other matches and the two previous away fixtures featuring a mix of players, i believe it will go down to who has done there home work with the loosing coach standing at the black board doing lines

Travelling to newcastle for tonights game, looking forward to showing the geordies how to do the chop, especially as watching the game with some falcons fans.
Strong looking Chiefs side, personally would preferred to see Philips play rather than Baxter, and with Ryan leaving I would have Mieries on the bench.
Prediction, Chiefs by 6 points and I will lose my voice by the end of the game (as usual)

We are a different team to the first league encounter, in personnel and skill watching the boys they have grown in some way every match.
Apart from that game we have only faced the Falcons with A team squads and a few 1st teamers. This time its the 1st team. Newcastle we're coming to getcha!
Right off to meet the boys and catch a flight, safe journey all others going up north

Far too excited to work. Sadly, wasn't able to make the trip up north. Now itching to get home and listen to the game. I guess many of the travelling tribe will be well on thier way by now. I hope they enjoy the trip (a lot) and show our northern friends just what a band of travelling support can be like. Can't wait to hear the chop ringing out around Kingston Park.
