Chiefs v Wasps review
Sandy Park

Brent review the latest Chiefs win this season :-)) that's 3 from 4!
Chiefs 21 Wasps 11
a personal view from Brent
The last time these 2 teams met was the last home game for Chiefs last season where Chiefs secured 8th spot in the table. Since then the Wasps have acquired some more talent and some of their youngsters e.g Daly have come on leaps and bounds.
Both teams won their first 2 games of this season followed by a loss - so a tough one to call.
Prior to the game on the wasps unofficial site one post about the Chiefs started
"what a bunch of non entities" but this was obviously a hook for the reader and was followed by glowing praise about the Chiefs team and their work ethic/values & results. Respect.
Sunday games - a good idea? Mixed views from the supporters i spoke to - there was general acceptance of the necessary evil of television money and points made about those that play on a Saturday so they can watch on a Sunday, others were less pleased about the reduced transport facilities on a Sunday. In any event the attendance was better than the falcons game at around 6700...as always it sounded like there were many more !!
Although the morning rain had given way to a beautiful sunny afternoon for the righteous at Sandy Park - the wind was clearly going to be an issue..and so it proved with Chiefs electing to kick to the corners where on another day 3 points would have been a near certainty - perhaps the conditions contributed to an off day in the line-out for Chiefs..
As i understand these reviews they are supposed to focus on the supporters perspective rather than simply a match review which is adequately covered on the official site. From my perspective a try or a penalty will always get attention (and rightly so) but often it is some individual moments which give the paying punters real cheer - so a few highlights from me
1. When did anyone last see Scays put a lovely spiral kick into the corner !! Look out nacho & steeno ! To be fair the kick was made even better by the chase of Jessy and TJ - as an aside i sometimes find it interesting to watch a player rather than the ball - do this with TJ - it`s hard work just watching him !!
2. There has been some fuss in the press about this "new" tackle seen at the World Cup where 2 players tackle a man and push him up and rip the ball from him - well we could have been in Rotorua as Rennie and Shoey demonstrated it perfectly - awesome defence from Shoey in particular again !
3. The Wasps 6 (big fella) decided to have a bash at the Chiefs "girls" (backs) - poor option - he chose Nacker and met someone his own size and weight.....If Bill McLaren (r.i.p) had been commentating i feel sure he would have been talking about tectonic plates crashing together....the Chiefs tsunami washed over that particular collision...awesome
4. Things of beauty? Budgie`s try for sure - another 75 meter solo effort - lovely ! Seriously, fair play to the big fella - just reward. I do wish he would stop finding himself in the flyhalf position though he gets in the way there - his skills are best used elsewhere.
5.As has been said elsewhere Muldowney was prominent when he came on and we all wish Mr short speedy recovery - the team will be glad to see Hanksy back in the frame
6. Wouldn`t be worth watching unless the opposition counted for something and Ryan Davis had a good break in setting up the Wasps consolation score - fair play
Overall Chiefs are definately still making really good progress - brilliant - that said if they are to make the top 6, the next time they have that much possession and field position they will probably need to take 5 points albeit the 4 should keep them well clear of the botton of the table
Another cracking day at Sandy Park - good luck to the youngsters at Worcester tonight and i hope the injured boys aren`t too badly hurt. Next up Sarries - they were the only team to outclass Chiefs at S.P last season and were clinical against tigers......come on X

Spot on review, brent.
Any news on the injuries? Peter Short looked in a bad way as they carried him down the tunnel. Tui didn't look too clever either.
thanks Brett.
Can you guys PM me Previews, Reviews etc. so I can make them front page stories, Thanks

Come on you Chiefs!!
C'mon Chiefs - ETN will rock and roll on Saturday for you!
I`ll have to pay more attention Black Otter as i missed the Budgie pass - perhaps we`ll see him at scrum half soon !!
Looking forward to Saturday and a really tough test which i believe more than any game so far will show Chiefs how far they have progressed
And finally Black Otter we shall have to discuss the England V Scotland game at S.P whatever happens......

I just wish ETN would get their act together and make some real noise - the echoes of silence from that side of the ground are really spooky.....
You're a cruel man BC! LOL
