Sarries prove too strong for Chiefs in the first Prem game to be played on an artificial surface.

Exeter Chiefs were lucky enough to be the first Premiership outfit to visit Allianz Park and play Saracens on the first artificial pitch in the Prem.  As it was the conditions were good for running rugby on any surface but early indications suggested it wasn't a good kicking surface.  Both Charlie Hodgson and Gareth Steenson missed what would normally be seen as 'sitters' early in procedings before things settled down.  The half-time score suggested a close encounter but the Chiefs found themselves on the receiving end in the second half.  Three out of four Sarries tries and the Chiefs sole effort came from forwards, which is the sort of return you'd expect from a game in wet and muddy conditions but who can tell. 

I'll not get into the ongoing debate re fat ladies singing etc. as that's already been done to death.  The Sarries supporters are obviously very happy to have a new ground, which should put an end to their nomadic existence.  It still needs some work but does appear to have the right sort of credentials to build solid support and reminded me a little of the early days at Sandy Park.

The Chiefs now need to get back on track and The Tribe will need to be in good voice to roar the guys on v London Welsh on Saturday.
