now the Euro cup weekend is out of the way Exeter Chiefs get back to Premiership action with a visit from London Irish.

We'll have to ensure qualification next season in whatever Euro Cup we find ourselves or face another frustrating weekend without a Chiefs game.  Now the Euro cup weekend is out of the way Exeter Chiefs get back to Premiership action with a visit from London Irish.  There's never a great deal to chose between them when these two sides meet and it could be pretty tight this weekend.  Irish have started to find some form and put any relegation fears behind them and the Chiefs are still in the hunt for a top six finish.  Hopefully the pitch will be firm to allow the running rugby we love to watch at Sandy Park.  If it is then Irish are likely to play their part after all the match with Sale produced a TBP draw 33-33.  This season Chiefs have a only lost twice at home (Saints & Tigers) whereas Irish have yet to win away from home.  Whilst it might not be a sell-out there should be a healthy contingent of Tribe members to shout the Chiefs on to victory.

We got our first away win of the season at their place so no doubt they will want to return the favour. It seems Irish have two teams this season, the one that turns up and plays good rugby and the other that seem to run around like headless chickens and get thumped! They should have won their last game against Sale but kept taking their foot off the gas and letting them back into the game.
Lets hope the conditions are good for running rugby and we can set up a great finale to our season with a win!

Come on you Chiefs!

I'm not sure whether Irish are mathematically safe from relegation yet, so I imagine that there's still plenty to play for on their side - set against that that a number of their top names (ie Joseph, Garvey, etc) are leaving at the end of the season, it is possible that they may not quite have the focus one would normally expect. Hopefully the possibility of top-level European competition is enough of an incentive to see the Chiefs deliver a match-winning performance thumbs down

We (London Irish) are not out of the relegation mix yet; however, a win at your place or a Welsh loss on Sunday will make us safe this weekend. By the way, please give us some credit for our one away win at Kingsholm.(Sm151)

Quite right, far from an easy place to pick up any points, so a win there is impressive - more than we managed this season, altho we did come close (18-16), and did achieve it last year
