Chiefs travel to Wasps aiming to keep their good form going and plunder the points that could secure Heineken Cup rugby for the second time.
Wasps v Chiefs - Cup Final
Sunday 21st April 2013 is the date; 2pm is the time and Adams Park, High Wycombe, is the location for what Rob Baxter has described as our cup final. This is the crunch match between Wasps & Chiefs, with the winner very likely to take all and secure the crucial 6th spot in the Aviva Premiership, thus ensuring Heineken cup rugby next season.
The results after round 20 all went in Chiefs favour, with Bathlosing to Harlequins, Wasps getting thumped by the Tigers, and Chiefs beating Irish at home. This has now placed the Chiefs in 6th spot in the table, 2 points clear of Bath in 7th and 3 points clear of Wasps in 8th. Chiefs can consolidate 6th spot by beating Wasps in their back yard on Sunday, and if Tigers beat Bath on Saturday, then 6th spot will secure and Heineken cup rugby guaranteed for a 2nd season in a row, but our boys will have to be at the top of their game. They will need to put in a repeat defensive performance as they did this week against Irish, to stop the Wasps lightening backs going over the whitewash, namely, Wade, Varndell and the young Elliot Daly, who was particularly impressive against the Tigers last weekend.
However, on the back of an Amlin Cup quarter final match against Leinster a fortnight ago and the defeat to Leicester last weekend, Wasps appear to be struggling with fitness of some of their key players, e.g. Sam Jones and Nicky Robinson (who picked up an injury during Tigers game last weekend), and Christian Wade was also taken off early during the Tigers game. Chiefs on the other hand, appear to be fit and fresh, and the outcome of this match will depend on which team wants this more.
Hopefully there will be a big raiding party travelling to High Wycombeto cheer on the boys. I will be there and have even invested in a new headdress and a large Exeter Chiefs Flag.
Good luck to Exeter Chiefs – Let’s take the Sting out of the Wasps and secure 6th spot in the premiership

Time for a pipe of Old Toby!

Time for a pipe of Old Toby!
Still, Wasps as they showed can be awesome at times(Wade threading the needle for his try...who oh why has that guy not been given an England shirt?) but on this occasion the Chiefs were that much better!
Heineken Cup rugby not quite secure though so let's see off Glaws in a couple of weeks!
