Whoops! my coordination is not very good this early! Just meant to say what a great time I had last time over there with Mike Selley et al. Difficult game to guess as you dont know if the Bayonne team are going full on or not. So Bayonne 17- 28 Exe but I could be wrong.

Both teams have the motivation to do well, Bayonne to qualify for last 16 and Chiefs to get important home advantage for potentially rounds of 16 and 8. Glasgow beat them by 1 point last month, but before that Bayonne hadn’t lost at home since last March and they have a big match the following Saturday against Oyannax that they will be keen to win. And now we have Wyatt and Abuladze out, but hopefully Josh H and Alec H back in.

I’m hoping we will start well and finish with a flourish.. very much looking forward to being there , should be another good w/e in France.

Chiefs 30 21 Bayonne.

Thanks, weather’s looking good, and the restaurant at the stadium promises good food and wine. But most importantly, we need to get 4 or 5 points!

Glasgow are at home to Toulon Friday night and Munster home to Saints Saturday, if both games are home wins, which is highly possible, Bayonne won't be able to qualify and we could finish top. Still think it might be tight though Bayonne 15- 26 Chiefs.

Think we will get over the line with a win. Bayonne missing Lopez and Machenaud at 9,10 could make a difference.

Agree, their 9 is 35 yrs old and only a 3rd start for the 10, a centre not started since Nov and a winger on his first start. Quietly confident.🫣

Having looked at their pack they seem to be a very settled unit with a few internationals, and as with all french teams they are very big. If we can hold our own at the set piece and run them around hopefully our fitness will see us through.

It doesn't look full throttle from Bayonne and we are taking a team with intent. Away from home but we can do it. Should be a great weekend.

So if I’ve worked this out correctly, a win or a bonus pt loss by Munster means Bayonne can’t Q for Rnd 16.
Our target 5pts and a Saints lose to go top, simples 😁

Q in first or second worth about £750k for the club - let’s hope the boys can get the necessary point if needed after the Munster saints result is known.

Bayonne need a TBP win by a clear 45 points to get in the round of 16 (obviously depending what happens in Limerick tomorrow)

WEll that was a crazy game. Credit to Saints for winning in those circumstances, home knockout match sorted. Top 4 seeding still doable but it's going to be tough.

It’s not often you get a free hit but I guess this is as close as you get. Of course we will be keen to keep momentum going esp with next week in mind. I just hope the lads come through injury free. For all the hard work our lads have put in this season and demanded International recognition it would be a shame if any of them picked up an injury

But we need 5 points to be reasonably sure of getting a home Q/F (if we win in the round of 16) so all to play for still.

Bayonne have nothing to play for but pride, who knows if that frees them up to throw the ball around and go for it, or if it will mean they can't be bothered!
Very hard to predict because of this. If we score early we could possibly win well. Bayonne 19 Chiefs 37

Need 5pts together with a 52pt winning margin to top the group. And that would earn Exe (ranked 3rd) a home fixture v Munster (ranked 14th).

Otherwise beat Bayonne (with 4 or 5 points) and Exe (ranked 5th) should be playing Glasgow (ranked 12th).

Come away with 1-2pts and Exe will be ranked 7th, meaning they play La Rochelle.

But zero points would mean playing Bath (or Quins if Bath can come away with a point from Toulouse).

All this assuming Toulouse win.

I’m sure Exe will go all guns blazing to win. But they definitely don’t want to lose narrowly if that means La Rochelle…

But if Exeter do beat Bayonne, then it would be:
- Glasgow (at home) 6/7 April
- Bordeaux (away) 13/14 April QF (unless Sarries win in Bordeaux)
- Toulouse (neutral venue in France) SF (unless Stormers win in Toulouse) 4/5 May
