Wenger anger at Walcott call up

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has expressed his anger at Theo Walcotts inclusion in both the England Under 21 and senior squad this summer. The Under 21 side, who fly to Sweden in a matter of weeks to begin the European Championships have called upon Walcott as part of their squad for the opener against Finland on June 15th.

But Walcott has also had the call from Fabio Capello and is to be included in the senior squad which face Kazakhstan on June 6th and Andorra just four days later in their World Cup qualifiers.

Walcott's inclusion in the under 21 squad could last as long as two weeks if the side are successful, and Wenger is unhappy about the amount of possible time Walcott could be dedicating to his International career during the summer break.

In a complaint to the FA Wenger stated "It is not logical that he plays for the first team and the U21s during the holiday period. I do not want Theo to stop playing for the U21s, but I think that during the holiday period he should choose one or the other".

Wenger's concerns are most likely born from the amount of time Walcott spent on the treatment table during this season.  Whilst he has made it clear that he will not stand in the way of the youngsters international career, Wenger has a duty to Arsenal to ensure that the player is fit to restart the domestic season in August.
