Terry admits his altitude concern

Former England captain John Terry revealed today that he still has concerns over altitude just 2 days before the start of the World Cup, The England squad had prepared for the change with altitude training ahead of flying out to South Africa. But the Chelsea star conceded this morning that the reason some of the squad had been out of sorts in their recent games was due to problems adjusting.

England managed a 3-0 victory over the Platinum Stars ahead of their first group game against the USA on Saturday.  But the performance was less than impressive. 

Terry believes that some squad memebers are still adjusting to the changes in altitude, but insists they will be ready come Saturday.  Terry commented that "We train at quite a high level anyway, coming here was another 150m higher again and we certainly felt that."  England's game against the US will be played at altitude in Rustenburg, a venue 1403m above sea level, and should England progress into the last 16 they will almost certainly be playing in thinner dryer air.

Terry also commented that his side would also need to get used to the flight of the ball.  It is not the first time that the 'Jabulani' ball which will be used in South Africa has come in for criticism.
