Gloucester need to get season back on track

Coach Dean Ryan is without nine internationals as Gloucester try to get their Guinness Premiership season back on track at home to Newcastle on Saturday, but the good news is that a few of the club’s injured players are close to a comeback. If ever they were needed after the recent stumbles, it's now.

Olly Morgan, Mike Tindall and James Forrester are still sidelined, but Ryan Lamb and Alex Brown have both returned to training this week, while Akapusi Qera is also available again after a hand injury and the sudden death of a brother.
Ryan told the Citizen: "We fell into the trap of having our internationals back, thinking let's pick them, win and move on. The group had played well the week before and maybe I should have been more supportive of others."
Whatever the reason, Glaws were worse than poor at Brizzle and badly need not only to win, but to win in style against the Falcons, who are also without their talented England backs because of the Six Nations.
Peter Buxton appears to be speaking for the players when he tells the Citizen: It hurt more (than at home to Leicester) to lose at Bristol. We came second best in a lot of areas to a very committed Bristol side.
“A lot has been said about the game in the last few days and it's now up to us to answer the critics.”
He expects Newcastle to base their game on a physical pack, in the absence of Jonny Wilkinson and his England pals, so it’s up to Glaws to respond.
