Redpath promises Glaws changes after winning start

Gloucester’s winning start to the season has given the players and the fans a much-needed boost after their spectacular flop at the end of 2008-09. But that was just the start and Bryan Redpath’s squad now needs to build on the win over Bath and find consistency - a quality they struggled to hit last season - over the next eight months.
The task starts on Sunday when Glaws visit London Irish hoping to transfer their Kingsholm form to the road. But against a side beaten 18-14 by Saracens on the opening weekend, it won’t be easy – Irish will be desperate to get their home season off to a flier. Bryan Redpath says he will make changes, with Lesley Vainikolo (right), Olly Morgan and Peter Buxton all fit again after the coach decided not to risk recent injuries by including them in the squad last weekend. Mike Tindall is expected to be fit after going off injured against Bath, but Carlos Spencer, Luke Narraway and Will James could have to wait longer for their first games. Redpath told the Citizen: "I will make changes. I've said all along the whole squad will be used. We don't want to run players into the ground until they break." Nicky Robinson, one of the stars of last weekend’s show, could face former Glaws fly-half Ryan Lamb on Sunday, giving travelling fans the chance to compare the highly-promising new man with the nearly man who needed a change of scenery. Meanwhile, Andy Hazell has apologised to Redpath and his team-mates for the stamping incident that saw him yellow-carded against Bath, but could still be cited for the incident. Two-try hero James Simpson-Daniel (right) was as pleased with the Bath win as the club's fans and he told the Citizen: “We were creating chances and we were getting into our shape and we were nearly there. The penny didn't quite drop but it nearly did. We're putting ourselves in positions to score tries. "It was a great start to the season for us.” It certainly was Sinbad, but hopefully nobody is going to get carried away by it. Bath are not title contenders, but they were still there to be beaten.
The REAL tests come when Glaws have a few injuries and need to dig deeper for a result than they had to dig last weekend.

I agree that Barf are no tittle contenders this season and the injury situation will be an issue as it will be to all teams this season. As Redpath states he will be looking to use all the squad and not rely on certain individuals, which will mean a boost for the non first choice players knowing that they will still be given a change to prove themselves and for the rest of the team to keep their socks pulled up. I think that this season if Glaws continue to improve and perform like they did on Sunday we should be looking at top two, if not top.....but we shall see
I thought the 3/4s went well on Sunday but the pack could do with a spruce up to give everyone some meaningful game time and get rid of the cobwebs. At least it is change for positive reasons and not change forced on Glaws by poor performances/results
I can understand the logic in keeping everyone motivated by giving them gametime but the players coming in have to be capable otherwise it is change for changes sake and that can be disruptive. Having said that I think even Glaws' 'first' XV would of been smashed yesterday considering how woeful their discipline was
You have to look at what causes a failure of discipline. If you are mullered, 20+ points down, discipline is likely to fail. Quite frankly, I'd prefer my team to lose it when they were being outplayed. Whats the alternative? Lie down and accept it? Not from a team I'd want to support.
At least Delve felt the pain of being in a team that was being outplayed.
The trick is to keep your discipline when the game is even. Sunday's game wasn't even.
