Another defeat as Glaws fail to hold on to their lead

The result was the same as so many others this season, but the performance – for a while, at least – was a lot better as Gloucester lost 21-14 at Wasps in the LV Cup. With Freddie Burns capping a good performance with two tries he converted himself, Glaws lost what might have been a match-winning lead as Wasps staged a match-winning recovery.

At 14-3 up, Glaws could have put a real spanner in the works, but the Wasps comeback sends them close to an appearance in the competition semi-finals.
Again, there were errors and there were signs of a shortage of experience, but there was hope in many aspects of Gloucester’s overall performance.
They may as well bid farewell to the LV Cup, but they need to build on the good points of this performance if they are to get out of trouble in the Guinness Premiership.
Of course, it’s results that count, and this latest setback increases the pressure on Glaws coach Bryan Redpath.
There was a bit of a response to his call for the team’s senior players to step up to the mark and be counted, but it was limited and Glaws weren’t able to hold on to the lead many players had worked so hard to create.
There’s no doubt Wasps weren’t at their best in the first half and it’s just as likely that they were read the riot act at half-time, the introduction of Joe Simpson at scrum-half turned the game as he and Tom Varndell swept over for the tries that eventually won the game for the home team.
After losing at home to Wasps not too long ago, losing away to the same team is perhaps no surprise.
But as we've already said, there were good points in the performance – the question is, can Glaws use that as a platform for an improvement as they head towards the halfway point in the season?  
It's only Leicester Tigers at Kingsholm next weekend, so that should be an easy one to start winning in!
