Glaws in final - but fans face ticket disappointment

JSD - treble

While we were going through those dark days in the first half of the season, not many Gloucester fans will have predicted that the team would be taking part in the first cup final of the campaign. Even less would have predicted that they would get there by beating the team that humiliated them in last season’s final.

Losing 50-12 to Cardiff Blues in the EDF Final last April just about put the tin hat on a frustrating season and contributed to the departure of Dean Ryan as coach.
Glaws narrowed the gap in the pool stages of this season’s competition, now the LV Cup (can’t be bothered with the = sign), but still lost 26-25 to the Blues.
But at least they went into at the weekend Wales with a chance – and how they took it.
The 29-18 victory means they play Northampton in the final at Worcester next Sunday, and while this may not be the big one, it’s a competition well worth winning, and getting into the final surely proved that while Glaws may not be even close to the finished article yet, they are at least on the way back.
Glaws got off to their traditional slow start and were 10-3 down before Freddie Burns crossed, and from being level at the break Glaws just pulled away thanks to a hat trick of tries from James Simpson-Daniel, ex-Blues man Nicky Robinson converting three tries and kicking a penalty.
Coach bryan redpath felt the game was won and lost in the first 20 minutes of the second half, when he said Robinson’s tactical awareness was the crucial difference between the teams.
What a pity the powers that be aren’t as aware – playing the final at Sixways means Glaws can expect no more than 4,000 tickets, and that is way below the number they could probably sell, even though they only have a few days to sell them in.
Don’t they want to make money out of the game?

The final next weekend also means Glaws have had to re-schedule the rearranged GP game at Newcastle Falcons - it's now due to be played on Wednesday March 31.

I think a lot of people will assume it's going to sell out and not even bother trying to get a ticket. Although credit to the Glaws fans who got theirs through the Saints' website!

I think a lot of people were put off a week or so ago when it appeared that getting tickets would be difficult, so they didn't bother.
