Just look at the scoreline - Glaws 33, Quins 26. Forget the pros and cons of the game itself, how it went, how it might have gone and the fact that Quins claim they should have won it. We'll take the win and the points, and we'll also take the fourth place it has earned.
Before the kick-off, everybody connected with Glaws would have chosen a win, with how it was achieved coming in second.
With Leicester at Kingsholm next weekend, beating Quins to jump over them in the table isn’t a bad start to a home double-header that could define the Glaws season.
It wasn’t perfect and at times it wasn’t pretty. But it was a win, and that’s what counts more than anything else.
Danny Care did Glaws a favour with his early try, galvanising the home team into the sort of action that they need, Dave Lewis and Charlie Sharples crossing for tries.
With Nicky Robinson kicking well, Glaws had a ten-point lead at half-time, but Nick Evans was just as accurate and his try levelled the scores at 26-26 in a second half in which both Glaws props were sin-binned.
But Brett Deacon nipped over off the back of a scrum and with Robinson adding the conversion three minutes from time, Glaws held on for a vital win, the ref coming to their assistance when quins felt they had scored with the final play of the game.
Coach bryan Redpath told the BBC: "I felt we were pretty comfortable before the two yellow cards.
"Suddenly it was 26-26, then we dug in well during the closing minutes. I will take that, although the second half wasn't good enough collectively. There were a few flutters.
"I am disappointed with the two yellow cards. Both were dull penalties."
The win could and should have been more clear-cut, the yellow cards were avoidable (but aren’t they all?) and Glaws should not have needed Deacon’s last-gasp winner, but that’s the way it goes and in a cut-throat business, a win is a win.
It’s not going to get any easier, either, with Leicester – level with Glaws on 17 points and, as usual, coming into form at present – the visitors to Kingsholm next weekend.
Now that is what top-level club rugby in England is all about.
