Win vital with Glaws on the edge of a crisis

Coach Bryan Redpath was angry over Gloucester’s Premiership flop at Leeds on the first weekend of the year … and he wasn’t the only one. In fact, for fans who made the long trip to West Yorkshire, and for those who didn’t, “angry” probably doesn’t cover it.

But it’s the reaction of the players that matters most, and it’s time they got it right.
They failed to find an answer after losing at home to La Rochelle in the Amlin Cup, the Leeds result the surprise reaction to that Euro reverse.
Now Glaws face Exeter at Kingsholm, and anything other than a clear win is not acceptable.
Glaws were handed a shock on the first day of the season when they lost away to Premiership new boys Exeter, but Redpath says “revenge” is not a word that’s been used in training this week.
He told the Citizen: "We're going to look at the Leeds game, we're not going to look at Exeter – we've got more than enough to keep us busy on the analysis front from the last two games.
"Exeter will come when it comes, but if we don't address some of the issues that have crept in over the last two games within the group, then Exeter is irrelevant.
"I'm massively angry about certain things. We lost by underperforming, not necessarily by being outplayed.
"No disrespect to Leeds, I thought they were very efficient, but we should be pushing harder to be where we want to be in the league, and not accepting some of these standards."
The fans will go along with that – Glaws supporters only have so much patience and they will not forgive another home defeat after watching the setback against La Rochelle only two weeks ago.
How the players react to Redpath’s anger and their own failure to get things right in games they could and should have won will probably define their season.
As Redpath says, Glaws have only flirted with the top four this season and if they are to get back there, they need to beat Exeter in the last Premiership game for almost a month before the cirit to Wasps on February 13.
Between Exeter and the trip to Wycombe are four trophy games – Rovigo and Agen in the Amlin and Leeds and London Irish in the LV=.
Having let themselves, Redpath and the supporters down far too often this season - let's face it, La Rochelle and Leeds aren't the only bad results on the fixture list - Glaws can’t afford to go into those games suffering from a Premiership hangover.
