Nigel Davies wasn't aware until he was told by the media after the game that Gloucester's 29-22 win over Wasps was their first Premiership win at Kingsholm since the end of February, so determined is he to forget the past and concentrate on the present.
And it appears to be working.
In his short time in charge Davies has demonstrated a calm professionalism which has quickly spread through the squad and is now getting to the fans as well.
There really is a feel-good factor about Kingsholm at last, and that’s what dominated a game which was a cracker at times and always tense as Wasps refused to allow Glaws to get away.
“We still nowhere near where we can get to, but we are in a pretty good position and we can build momentum from this win,” Davies told the BBC.
“Gloucester is a fantastic place with a great stadium and great support, but if we don’t get it right that can work against us. We have to show pride in the shirt and a never-say-die attitude … and our game will evolve and develop.”
On the game itself he added: "Wasps are a very good attacking team with a lot of quality, but I am a little disappointed we let them back into the game. What let us down after a good first half was the final pass, a little bit of inaccuracy.
"But we are building and that was a step forward today as far as I am concerned. We can build on that performance… it’s a couple of steps further than last week against Worcester.
"We've shown as a team this season that we don't give up, we keep going and we are prepared to grind out wins. That underpins this team at the moment.
“We made it a bit more difficult than it needed to be, but what came through was the grit and determination this group has shown.”
The points hero was again Freddie Burns with 19 out of the 29 and the sort of game-running show that marks him out as a real star for years to come, but it was another team effort that built the foundations.
James Simpson-Daniel scored a typical try in the first half and Sione Kalamafoni seemed more surprised than anybody else to be given the space to score the second, Burns keeping the board ticking away with his reliable kicking.
Wasps aren’t the most difficult team to beat – this was their defeat defeat of the season – and Glaws aren’t the finished article.
But all the evidence suggests they are going in the right direction.
