Would Billy be better off staying in Argentina instead of jetting a quarter way round the world to join a Lions team where he will be warming a bench - at best?
It's an honour for the Gloucester centre to be invited to join the tour, of course.
But, such was the potential of the England backs last weekend, that perhaps his overall development would have been better served if he was in the centre alongside Burns, Joseph and the brilliant Christian Wade once again this Saturday.
The pace and inventiveness of the England backs was a joy to behold. They weren't up against the strongest opposition but Lancaster obviously game them free rein and the future looks exciting if this lot can develop together.

In short, no!
It's the ultimate honour for any British or Irish player. To be lined up alongside the likes of BOD, POC, Croft, Wyn-Jones, Roberts, Phillips etc. it WILL improve him as a player.

Certainly a a great honour and an even greater honour to play in the Test match but how likely is that? He's there as cover.

The pair worked in tandem in England's 32-3 win over Argentina, developing a relationship nurtured at Kingsholm.

You cant turn down a call from the Lions and he will benefit from seeing how Gatland does things and from being around some truly exceptional players. Even on the training ground he'll find things have stepped up a couple of notches and if he gets some gametime all the better.
