So who will follow Freddie Burns into the Gloucester hot seat? Now it's confirmed he's off [to Leicester, no doubt] at the end of the season Nigel Davies says he has his eye on no less than seven replacements ..
The way the Glaws pack is going backwards at the moment not many of them may fancy the job this season. However, the big signings for next season should guarantee a bit more shelter for our new fly half.
Davies has the dilemma of whether to continue with an out of sorts and distracted Burns or whether to plunge in now and secure a new player who can slot in straight away.
And who could that be? He could do worse than go for Jimmy Gopperth who is tried and tested and vying for first choice at Leinster with Ian Madigan.
For the record this is the official statement from the club:"After weeks of speculation, Gloucester Rugby can confirm today that fly-half Freddie Burns will leave the club at the end of the season.
"The future of the 23-year-old, who made his senior bow in Andy Hazell's testimonial match ahead of the 2009-10 season and who is out of contract at the end of the current season, has been the subject of intense media attention in recent weeks.
"Discussions between Burns and the club over a new contract have been ongoing for some time now. However, agreement has not been reached and, by mutual consent, both parties have started to pursue alternative options."

I wouldn't panic. I have been expecting a phone call from Walkinshaw jnr asking for my help in team selection, but as it hasn't materialized I'm sure Mr Socino will remain in darkest Yorkshire for the foreseeable future.
