Pitch Invader Helps Gloucester Win

It goes against the spirit of rugby to say it - but there is nothing quite so satisfying as a last gasp win away from home. It's even better when the home crowd think they've snatched victory to the extent there was a one man pitch invasion ...

Admittedly the invader was posher than  the norm. He was wearing a rather nice jacket, which was a shame for him as Freddie Burns dumped him unceremoniously on his back . Looked a bit like a spear tackle, but the guy was not hurt at the time although he looked like he might be due a hangover later.

It all happened just a couple of minutes from time with Gloucs 14-8 up and defending heroically.

Don Armand managed to score through a mass of bodies - cue the invasion. The guy was escorted off and he may well have missed Gareth Steenson's failed conversion attempt.

It was a relatively easy shot, so it could well be that the pitch invasion put the kciker off.  Either way it was a wonderful end to the game for the travelling support. A great win and a good laugh.

The end of game drama came when we were down to 13 because of sin-bins. We'd gone in front in the second half thanks to a Charlie Sharples' try and a Rob Cook penalty after trailing to a Matt Jess score and Steenson kick.

My mate says hes a well known footballer from St Austell. Definitely a spear tackle though!

If he was going to run on you'd think he'd wait till they'd successfully converted the try and taken the lead.
Presumably hes facing a ban from Sandy Park

He's not a regular supporter and was ejected.

Well played by the way.

If he's not a big supporter of Chiefs why was he so excited when your scored?

Well played yourselves btw although I'm sure both teams have played better this season.

I once witnessed a national league club game where a bit of handbags kicked off and a youngish chap leapt over the barrier and angrily headed for the action.
Our prop saw him coming and instinctively laid him out with a punch to the jaw.
The home supporters were baying for blood and we feared a red card, but nothing happened at all apart from the lad being carried off by his mates.
Asked afterwards what had transpired our prop said the Ref just said : "That served him right he had no business being on the pitch."
