Five Debuts at Saints

Five new faces will start in the side which kicks off the Premership season on Friday night at Saints - and they are all top class players who will make the difference.

Last Sunday's newspaper pundits reckoned we would finish mid-table, but looking at this line-up it is easily capable of top 4.

In come James Hook and Greg Laidlaw - world class half backs. In come Richard Hibbard and John Afoa - world class front rows.

Matt Kvesic is missing with his foot injury but in comes Jacob Rowan who is full of promise.

On the bench Mark Atkinson and Steve McColl will also make their debuts.

Gloucs: Rob Cook, Charlie Sharples, Henry Trinder, Billy Twelvetrees (captain), Jonny May, James Hook, Greig Laidlaw, Dan Murphy, Richard Hibbard, John Afoa, Tom Savage, James Hudson, Sione Kalamafoni, Jacob Rowan, Ben Morgan.

Bench: Darren Dawidiuk, Yann Thomas, Sila Puafisi, Tom Palmer, Ross Moriarty, Dan Robson, Mark Atkinson, Steve McColl

There are no surprises in an equally strong looking Saints line-up with Stephen Myler the only change from the side which Glaws will have watched being beaten by Newport in a warm-up game last wweek.

Saints: James Wilson, Ken Pisi, George Pisi, Luther Burrell, George North, Stephen Myler, Lee Dickson, Alex Corbisiero, Dylan Hartley (captain), Salesi Ma'afu, Courtney Lawes, Christian Day, Calum Clark, Tom Wood, Samu Manoa.

Bench: Ross McMillan, Alex Waller, Gareth Denman, James Craig, Jon Fisher, Kahn Fortuali'i, Will Hoolley, Ben Foden.

Don't know which game Gloucester watched as Saints lost to Newport.

So we both lost to Welsh opposition. Should be a very even contest tomorrow night then.

Fancy it to be a belter specially given the firm going and the talent on show [on both sides].

Fair to say I'm looking forward to this one. Glos v Saints at Kingsholm was one of the best games of the season and if we get anything close to that in terms of entertainment, I'll be a happy man. The Gloucester pack looks much more solid but how will it stand up against the most aggressive and physical defence in the league?
