The Glaws squad return to training today chastened by that right royal hammering at Saints. They were chasing shadows all over the pitch and just didn't compete up front with the result that the home side were more or less gifted their first 21 points ..
After that it was a 5-6 landslide.
It all goes to prove that rugby is a team game. Saints have had more or less the same side for several seasons and play as a unit, whereas our wholesale changes this summer has brought in some superb internationals, but we now realise they need time to become a team.
Billy Twelvetrees says it will take weeks rather than months. We all hope he's right and it could be that getting our hardest fixture of the league season out of the way may prove to be a blessing in disguise.
Certainly nobody at Hartpury today will be under any illusion that chequebooks alone win anything.
