Meakes Faces Ban

Billy Meakes faces a European disciplinary in Dublin on Thursday following his sending off against Edinburgh.  He'll be accompanied on the plane by Ross Moriarty who will be accountable for the dropped knee in Fraser McKenzie's back.

Meakes, who was in tears after being red carded, could face a ban of up to a whole year after his high tackle on Sam Beard in the 64th minute.

The offence can clearly be seen on video and, while highly regretable, the pace of the play at the time, and the fact that Meakes quickly dropped the offending arm, will hopefully count in his favour.

Regardless, he will no doubt have to sit out the remaining games this season including  the play-offs for the vacant European Championship spot. We will have to face the seventh-place Pro12 team , one of either Scarlets, Connacht or Edinburgh, before hosting this season's eighth-place club in the Top14.
