Lead Thrown Away

Let's be honest you should not be throwing away a 17 point lead - even in England's most successful sporting city.

Cherry and White supoporters were euphoric when we scored three tries in less than ten minutes to make Welford Road a very quiet palce.

Steve McColl, Henry Trinder and Paddy McAllister all crossed the white wash to give us that majestic lead at the break.

But we couldn't close the game out depsite Greg Laidlaw kicking another 15 points.

Tuilagi got a couple for Tigers, fellow centre Peter Betham got one with Vereniki Goneva getting the winner with five minutes left. We had a late rally but Tigers showed us how to defend a lead cliching the game 35-30.

As a result we came away with just one point and now languish in eighth place some nine points behind the top six. Friday's visit of second top Exeter is now very much a season definer.
