Fitness or Face?

Is Danny Cipriani not fit enough or doesn't his face fit with Eddie Jones. Certainly there's evidence to support the latter, but why would Jones include the Premiership Player of the Year in a 35 man squad a couple of weeks ago and then leave him out of a 38 man squad for fitness work in Italy?

Jones likes to have everything battened down, but surely there is a place for a mercurial talent who can, at the best come off the bench and produce some magic when things are not going wel.
