Monday Night Mayhem

The 1,000 supporters allowed into Kingsholm weren't as lucky as they thought - at least those of us watching at home could go in the kicthen and make a cup of tea or go for a stroll round the block.

Quite simply we gifted this game 15-28 to Quins.

Once again we started  by giving away needless penalties at the breakdown.

As we fought back we contrived to miss two golden chances through panic passes. A streetwise Quins kept it simple and played to the ref's interpretations with Mike Brown particularly crafty.

Ollie Thorley dropped the ball when sent clear by Rees-Zammit and then Cipriani's pass to Jonny May was forward when he had the line at his mercy.

Danny  had a nightmare witb nothing going  for him all night. His head didn't go down and he surely got rid of all his bad luck in that one game.

Our woes continued before the break when Varney had a pass intercepted on halfway by Lewies who made it to the line.

Man of  the match Pollerio used his strength to go over to reduce the arrears but  our luck didn't get much better  with Joe Marchant intercepting a Cipriani pass.

He was caught by Rees-Zammit but found the supporting Steele who went over.

Argentinan Alemanno gave us some cheer when he scored a fine try on his debut to reduce the deficit.

However, Ed Slater had a try disallowed  as the ball was knocked from his grasp over the line. It went backwards and he fell on it but try not given. Summed it up really.

Not the end of the world - we just need to wise up and get the two points needed to finish in top eight.
