Things Can Only Get Better

Thank you Jonny May for giving loyal Shedheads something to celebrate on the first day of the new Gallagher Premiership. While he was scoring one of the tries of the season at Twickers his club mates were decidedly second best at Welford Road.
Tigers showed that adversity can breed success. They only trained this week because of Covid, lost long time coaching and playing influence Geordan Murphy and came into the game as last season's poorest side.
Such is rugby that they rolled up their sleeves and won 38-15 against a Glaws side who made it hard for themslves with two yellow cards (Clarke and Hanson) as they ran out of steam in the second half.
Tigers have recruited well in the experienced Richard Wigglewsorth and No 8 Jasper Wiese - the latter a real handful and reminded us of the difficulty we will have in covering until Jake Polledri is over his knee injury.
We were behind from two tries in the first ten minutes before Wigglesworth crossed to give his side a handsome lead.

James Hanson cut it back on 36 minutes and we looked like we might get back into thing shortly after the break when Joe Simpson finsihed off after good work from Jordy Reid and Freddie Clarke.
Sadly that ended our scoring and, as George Skivington later said, we became our worst enemies with Tigers wrapping up the try bonus point shortly before full time.
