Pragmatic Plastic

Those of us brought up on muddy winter afternoons watching steam rise from juggernaut packs in front of The Shed will, no doubt, be reluctant to endorse the decision to dig up the hallowed turf and replace it with plastic.

However, this appears not to be a decision based  not on what spectators or players  want - or prefer.

It is all tied up with the business decision to relocate from Hartpury and sent up a new gym and rehab facility. It will be funded  with a private ompany at the old beauty warehouse next door. Having a plastic pitch means it can be used for training as well as games.

On that basis it is difficult to produce a sentimental argument to beat the financial one.

Regatrdless, the nd of an era but let's hope it leads to a top four finsih next season.
