Fightback Fails

Gluocester gave Tigers a head start and just failed to reel them in as they went down 26-33 - having to settle for a losing try bonus point when ity seemed both sides may have ended with three each.

Nevertheless, it was great to see a big crowd and a new league season which we all hope can be concluded wiothout Covid interruption.

Indiscipline gifted Tigers early points in a lively first half which saw  Harry Wells and Ellis Genge scoring for the visitors only for  Gloucester to come back through Fraser Balmain and Ruan Ackermann.

Harry Potter gave Tigers a 25-12 lead but Mark Atkinson crossed to keep us within one score.

The pattern continued with Nic Dolly restoring Tigers' advantage only for Jack Clememt to score on his debut to set up a grand finale with Gloucs needing a converted try to level the scores.

Sadly, it wasn't to be despite a massive effort from the home side.

George Skivington toild the media : "I think  we put ourselves in a position where we could have won the game. But again there was a couple of penalties early on that probably set us on the back foot and then we were chasing our tail a little bit from then on.

"It's a mixed bag. Lots of stuff we wanted to come off, came off. I thought the physicality, the work rate, all the bits we pride ourselves on were brilliant."
