Shredded Nerves
Two Try Louis
By New Cherry
October 10 2021
Our old habit of letting it all go "breasts up" in the last quarter of the game returned as we let a comfortable lead slip. However, a last minute missed conversion from the visitors gave us the 33-32 win. We'll take it.
With ten minutes to go we were 33-15 up and most sides would have shut up shop. Not the Cherry and Whites who seem to have an aversion to supporters leaving early to beat the traffic or get the beer in.
Sale must have done their homework as they were not for giving in. They scored three late tries through Daniel du Preez, Gus Warr and Tommy Taylor - the latter coming in injury time to give Tom Curtis the chance for glory.
We held our breath. The kick was out wide but that doesn't seem to bother too many Premiership kickers these days. However, pressure is a major factor and on this occasion fortune went with Gloucs and the kick was well wide.
Earlier.
We went into a comfy 15-0 lead thanks to an Adam Hastings penalty and tries from Ben Morgan and Jack Singleton.
Sharks came back through Raffi Quirke only for Louis Rees-Zammit to go over in the corner.
A Sale pen made it 20-10 at the break.
Hastings slotted a penalty before Sale's second try through Arron Reed . Up popped Louis again for the bonus point and a drop goal from Hastings - a rate thing these days but thank goodness he took the opportunity to take us to those match winning 33 points.
So far this season the Premiership has been fantastically entertaining - we are playing our part.
