Pipped At The Post

The spoils went 16-13 to the Chiefs in a game which could have gone either way and whicyh was tense until the dying seconds.

We were left to rue a start in which we were pernalised a handful of times giving the Chiefs a 6-0 platform.

Our rugby after that was excellent with Santiago Carerras at the centre of things but we couldn't take enough of our chances 

We did take the lead thanks to  hooker Jack Singleton who went over from a driving maul together with two Adam Hastings penalties to make it 13-6.

That was the score at half-time and you would normally expect the home team to notch a few more points in the following 40 minutes - this time it didn't happen.

Both sides had their opportunities but it was Chiefs who took a couple of theirs.

We gave away anther penalty which allowed Stuart Hogg to break and send in Alec Hepburn. 

The conversion was missed and Gloucs were still two pionts ahead until a rare error from Louis Rees-Zammit. He went to collect in his own 22 but fumbled as the Chiefs chased him down. From the scrum Will Witty eventually crossed.

Annother missed conversion meant we were just three points behind and we did stage a late attempt to take the points with a penalty kick deep into the Chiefs 22 as the clock passed the 80 minute mark.

The line-out led to a scrum and a chance to push the Chiefs back and claim a dramatic winner. It didn't happen as we gave away a scrum pen. 

A good game to watch and no reason to be disheartened.
