Moving On Up

The Cherry and Whites host 11th placed Bristol this week after the 35-33 bonus point win at Wasps put us just five points behind second placed Quins.

Of course, Sarries and Sale still have to play in round 8 but we are well in the mix for one of the top places.

Ideally, we would like to make life a little easier after we almost succumbed to a late Wasps rally.

We looked comfortable after tries from Jonny May and Billy Twelvetrees plus Adam Hastings' boot  helped establish a  23-12 lead at half-time.

Wasps played their part in an entertaining game through Thomas Young and Gabriel Oghre with Billy stretching our lead in the second half.

Alfie Barbeary crossed to maintain home hopes only for Jack Clement to seemingly clinch the game. However, nobody told Jacob Umaga who scored twice in the closing stages to almost ruin George Skivington's day.

He said:"Wasps are a good side who can score tries out of nothing and they did that at the back end of the game, and it very nearly cost us. If you take that last 15 minutes as a snap shot there's a lot for us to learn as a group."
