Triumph Over Adversity

Talk about making life hard for yourselves. Gloucs had to face the might of Sarries on their own pitch, relentless rain and yellow cards for Santiago Carreras and Lewis Ludlow and we still won 25-24.

The win came courtesy of us shading the catch and drives. 

There were  three in the first half with Sarries going in 14-12. We went into the lead when Freddie Clarke took line out ball wityh Fraser Balmian going over.

Indisicpline allowed Sarries to come back with a close range effort of their own from  Dom Morris. The yellow cards allowed Sarries to press their advantage with a Daly penalty and a Roti Segumi try.

With Carreras back we scored from the restart with Jack Singleton crossing and Hastings converting from out wide - just as the skipper returned. We had survived.

Hastings gave us a one point lead ..... for a couple of seconds. Charlie Chaman was charged down from the restart allowing replacement Theo McFarland to cross. 

Back we came courtesy pf a high tackle which provided another attempt at the catch and drive,  and this time Jack Clement celebrated his arrival with the score. Hastings added the extras as well as a penalty which took us six points clear.

That's a nervous margin and our nails were well and truly bitten as Alex Lewington went over in the corner with five minutes left on the clock. The conversion would have restored Sarries lead but Lozowski was wide and we were able to hold out.

Not pretty but who cares when you win at Sarries.
