Opportunity Missed

After fighting back from 17-0 Gloucs looked to have five points in the bag only for a resurgent Bristol to snatch the game 29-28 with a last ditch try.

Only two points for the Cherry and Whites which puts them level with fourth placed  Chiefs with three games to go. However, Gloucs still have to face Quins and Sarries.

So the three points "lost" at Ashton Gate may prove vital. It was an entertaining game as both sides gave it a good go with plenty of errors from both sides keeping it open.

The way the game started you wouldnt have bet on Gloucs coming away with any points. Harry Thacker and Andy Uren tries put Bristol 17-0 up before Gloucs got their hands on the ball.

When they did Charlie Chapman (right) , Louis Rees-Zammit and Chris Harris all crossed in some style to give their side a 21-17 half-time lead.

Both  lost players in the seciond half.  Freddie Clarke sent to the bin for a deliberate knock-on, and from the penalty Fricker was able to go clear under the posts.  

Bristol's Sam Bedlow was then sent off for a late and high tackle on Hastings with Singleton going over from close range to give the Gloucs the lead again. 

However, the visitors couldn't keep the  Bears from mounting one last attack. Once again it was Fricker who scored to give Sheedy the chance to get that narrowest of wins.

George Skivington told the media: "I don't think we were accurate enough with set pieces to be honest. It's obviously been a superpower for us and in that area, ironically, we couldn't get going. That's my responsibility, I coach that and I've got to make sure that's on point so Bristol did a great job of scuppering it and we didn't have the solutions."
