Saracens handed out a salutory lesson as they eased into the semi-final of the European Challenge Cup courtesy of a 44-15 win in front of a shellshocked Shed.

Jack Singleton had forced his way over for Gloucester, but there was no stopping Sarries with Maro Itoje, Nick Tompkins, Jamie George and Duncan Taylor all crossing.

Louis Rees-Zammit did score a typical try but it was only a late consolation.

George Skivington told the media: "The scoreline is not very flattering, but it gives us a good check point to see where we are at with a few areas.

"I thought we made it easy for them the second half, if I'm honest, with the amount of penalties we gave away. I think they came from a good place, I think the boys were trying to get us on the right foot but we gave them off the kick-off three penalties straight away."
