Rugby Family Supports Ed

Rugby is already rallying in support of Gloucs lock Ed Slater who has announced his retirement after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease - the same dreadful disease with is being so bravely fought by Doddie Weir and Rob Burrows.

The club says it is entirely committed to supporting Ed, his wife Jo and his three children in whatever way required. The Doddie Weir Foundation is already involved in providing support and there's a fundraising page already set up at JustGiving

Thirty three year old Ed captained Tigers before moving to Kingsholm five years ago where he made almost 80 appearances. He joined the Cherry and Whites in 2017 from Leicester Tigers and had made 78 appearances for the club in the Premiership.

His career started with Eastern Suburbs in Australia and, after joining Nottingham, he was called up to the England Saxons squad in 2012 which he also led with distinction.
