Sale went into a 14-0 lead courtesy of Joe Carpenter and Tommy Taylor, with Santiago Socino's unconverted try getting one back. Sale went 24-5 up thanks to a Ben Curry try and a du Preez penalty.

Gloucester were always in it and had the better field positions with Jacob Morris restoring hope with an excellent kick and chase try. He was close again from close range as Sale weree forced to defend, and they went further ahead when du Preez slotted another penalty.

Gloucs weren't finished but the game was out of their reach before Freddie Clarke got a late consolation.
