Five penalties from George Barton saw Gloucester through a tricky tie in Tblisi. Black Lion wre playing their first Challenge Cup game having been formed only a couple of years ago and they did score the game's only try in their 10-15 defeat.

Luka Matkava got it courtesy of a dummy but four pens from Barton gave the Cherry and Whites a 12-7 lead at oranges.

Matkava notched a second half penalty to put his side within three points of a win only for Barton to seal the game with his fifth.

Clermont up next on Frday night.
