The European Challenge Cup is proving to be the highlight of an otherwise unhappy season for the Cherry and White faithful. The 35-5 demolition of Castres secured top spot in the pool and a guaranteed home game in the last 16 .

Gloucs have yet to lose a game in the competition and had too much for the French side with tries from Seb Atkinson, Freddie Clarke, Adam Hastings and replacement Albert Tuisue securing the bonus point.

Castres' try came in the first half courtesy of winger Josaia Raisuqe to make it 1-5 at oranges.

However, Gloucs were dominant in the second half with Clarke playing like a centre and chasing his own chip to go over in spectacular fashion.

Hastings had an easy ruin in for his try when Castres full back Geoffrey Palis made a mess of taking a high ball and Albert Tuisue celebrating his return from injury by finishing off a rolling maul (left).
