Gloucester hold the Slater Cup fotr the first time after a thrilling last ditch 27-25 win at Welford Road. It was a much needed win  and one which promises so much  for the rest of the season.

Ed Slater was there and his family brought the trophy onto the pitch  before the kick off. In four previous meetings that was the closest the Cherry and Whites had got to it,, but it's now at Kingsholm after a great  try from Stephen Varney and a conversion from Santi Carreras sealed the win with two minutes left.

It was Seb Blake who made the break with Varney on his shoulder  - the scrum half finished it off with a lightning burst from the 22.

It was no more than his side deserved. With Josh Hathaway looking dangerous, and a promising replacement for Louis Rees-Zammitt, Gloucs took the game to Tigers in the first half and should have had more than a 17-8 lead at the break. Zach Mercer and Chris Harris crossing  for  Gloucester with Tommy Reffell getting one back just before the half-time whistle.

Tigers took the lead courtesy of Solomone Kata, Jasper Wiese and Jamie Shillcock to take a 25-20 lead as the clock ticked down. Cue Mr Varney......
