Bath took the local bragging and the Rifles trophy as Gloucs couldn't hold onto a two try lead going down 24-33.
The first half was all action. Josh Hathaway justified the excitement surrounding him with a superb opening try as he chipped over Max Malins and he had the speed to collect and go over.
Five more tries quickly followed - Santi Carreras and Adam McBurney for Gloucs to give the Cherry and Whites a 24-19 lead at oranges.
As so often happens the second half didn't match the first with Bristol soaking up everything that Gloucs could throw at them whikle tries from Bradbury and Van Rensburg sealed the victory.
Gloucs Head coach George Skivington told the media: "In the second half we hardly had any ball. We had a good first 25 minutes and then, the second half, the momentum was always with Bristol.
We are disappointed with how we defended - there's no getting away from that. We sat off Bristol and paid them too much respect and gave them too much space."
