This could have been a banana skin. Newcastle Falcons arrived at Kingsholm buoyed by their only win in ages while Gloucs have stuttered after starting the season in fine form. Fortunately the gulf in class was evident the Cherry and Whites won 36-7 catapulting them to fifth in the league befofe the Sunday game.

The bonus point came quickly as Jack Clement, Tomos Williams, Seb Blake and Jack Singleton all scorring before oranges

Falcons fared better after refreshments with Jamie Blamire reducing the arrears only for Christian Wade and Josh Hathaway to seal the win.

George Skivington told the media: "It was a game we needed to win. We've been in a position in a few games to win and not quite got over the line, so a big home fixture was important for us to go and get it.

"I'm pleased with the lads and I'm more pleased with the set-piece and defensive attitude."
