Pool Preview: Blackpool vs Barnsley

Blackpool play Barnsley for the third time this season hoping they can finally better the Tykes, who, after beating Liverpool in the FA Cup, have yet to show their potential shown at Anfield in the league. Blackpool will hope that now, having leapfrogged the Yorkshire club in the table, they are able to overcome Simon Davey’s men.

Pool will be looking to welcome back Paul Dickov after he missed the win at Norwich with a hamstring strain, and is likely to replace Andy Morrell despite a good performance at Carrow Road, but simply because Dickov is an important player and at the moment, McPhee is undroppable.

Barnsley will be 3 men short of a full compliment when they visit on what is sure to be a cold night, with goalkeeper Heinz Muller and wing back Anderson Da Silva both out for the season, and Rob Kozluk having picked up a red card in the 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday, leaving him suspended. Despite these losses to the team, boss Davey believes that his side can come to Fortress Bloomers and pick up 3 points.

Blackpool will look for another 3 points to clinch survival, with another win on Tuesday bringing the total to 48 points, and near certain survival.

Prediction: Blackpool 2-0 Barnsley
