Pool Review: Blackpool vs Barnsley

Blackpool went into the game against Barnsley looking to retain there 12th place position in the championship whilst looking to build on the points they already had. However Barnsley have been a boogey-team at Bloomfield Road for Blackpool, who haven't beat the Tykes at home since 1991. However last night they came close to curing that curse but a poor defensive mistake let them down in the end.

It took the seasiders just twenty minutes to find the net and Blackpool fans would have been forgiven for thinking it was going to be another high scoring game at this point. Gary Taylor-Fletcher, who is in line for an un-sung hero's award, continued his fine form scoring yet another goal. It came about after Stephen Crainey (Also Underated) crossed the ball to GTF who headed home perfectly yet again for his third in three games.

Barnsley should of been equal soon after, but former Preston and Man City man; Jon Macken, failed to score an easy tap in, GTF had another header goal goalwards shortly after that but that failed to find the back of the net as his first did. As half time neared and the half time oranges had been peeled Jamie Campbell-Ryce scored an equaliser after John Macken put the ball to a Barnsley man, who gave the ball square to the scorer who put the ball home profesionally.

The second half started with Blackpool's Stephen McPhee looking for a goal but it wasn't to be, his shot was sent away by the 'keeper. Wes Hoolahan fired over soon after, before the seasiders pounced on the Barnsley area once more however yet again they failed to score.

Despite the addition of a few new rows of seat's at Bloomfield Road, the atmosphere seemed a bit sterile compared to usual concert of seasiders cheers. But this didn't hinder Wes Hoolahan who continued to be the machine he is however no goal came, after his ball found Andy Morrell who once again took the place of Poorly Dicov (You see what we did there?).

Blackpool will feel they should have won three points from this game but Barnsley fans will feel they've taken two off a team they are challenging for survival and a possible top-mid-table position. However a point against your boogey team isn't out to complain about; especially as we are on good form.
