We look at todays Championship action!

It was a day off for the Seasiders as Tuesday nights opponents took on Portsmouth in The FA Cup Semi Finals. So a day dedicated to the horses was in order. As Comply Or Die put a super smile on my face. However smiles were not on the faces of the baggies this afternoon.

Despite there efforts the bag'eds stumbled at the semi-final hurdle and where beat 1-0. Meanwhile the rest of the championship where in action so we thought we'd review the action for you.

The story of the day is that Colchester live to fight another day thanks to a Scott Vernon double. That's right former Seasider Scott Vernon scored a double to sink Ipswich 2-0.  A section of Seasiders believe he should never have been let go and performances like todays only serve to prove there point.

Meanwhile interbred rivals Burnley got beat 2-0 by there Southern cousins Norwich. The Canaries saw soon to be retired Dion Dublin score in the first half before Ched Evans secured the game at it's death.

It's not long now till the Seasiders have to travel to Plymouth for the final away game of the season. The good news coming out of today is that Plymouth are beatable at home. Charlton beat them 2-1 today in a game described as "a thrilling contest". Nicky Weaver was sent off after just three minutes but the Addicks managed to get the win.

Preston thought they had secured three points until QPR stole a point by scoring two last minute goals. Gareth Ainsworth and Dexter Blackstock the ones responsible for ensuring Nob End don't get further ahead of us. Although there traditional burn out is expected soon. This one finished 2-2.

Another former 'pool man was on the score sheets today. This time it was Ian Morris. He scored in the 1-1 draw between Scunthorpe and Sheffield Wednesday. The goal has been described as "spectacular" mind you , most of his goals are!

A James Beattie Hat-trick helped Sheffield United to the win against Leicester City. The game ended 3-0 and the first half hat-trick certainly killed the game off. All though The Foxes where reduced to ten men after Kisnorbo brought down Billy Sharp in the first half.

Southampton beat Bristol City 2-0. The league leaders felled by the relegation candidates. After Stern John scored on the 35th minute followed by a deserved second half goal by Jason Euell.

Watford beat Coventry 2-1 as they ended a run of eight games without a win. The results leave the Seasiders in 16th and a good three points behind local rivals Preston. With five games remaining the play offs are still possible. But that is just fantasy at the end of the day and we need a minimum of at least six points to ensure our safety yet.
