Review vs Barnsley

Another Bloomfield Road curse has been lifted, at the sixth time of trying and for the first time in 29 years; Blackpool have successfully managed to beat Barnsley FC at home and what a way to do it. A 1-0 win thanks to a super goal by on loan Steve Kabba. Although in truth it should and could of been more.

For yesterdays game, Simon Grayson chose to select the same side that beat Southampton a fortnight ago. But to be honest his best side this season finished the game.

Adam Hammill looked lively from the start having an early opportunity, which was high, wide but not at all hansom. The game was mainly thought in midfield but Jon Macken did have a chance to score. However Paul Rachukuba made a great save in one of his better games since our promotion two years ago.

Half time couldn't come early enough with many fans sneaking down to the concourse to enjoy a flat beer. Million pound man Iain Hume was forced to be subbed for the restart but Simon Grayson didn't make his first change until the 60th minute. Bringing off Fox and Jorgenson for a returning David Vaughn and Kieth Southern who have to start against Burnley based on there half hour yesterday.

This change breathed new life into the game, working almost immediately as David Vaughn raced clear, however his shot went wide. Barnsley then claimed for a penalty on the 72nd minute, maybe it was, it's hard to judge from the north stand but when was the last time we had one of them go our way?

Moments later Kieth Southern unleashed a bullet shot straight at the goal, it should of been a goal but it came off there guys backside. Blackpool went 4-3-3 soon after, going straight for the kill. For me this was strange and may mark a new attitude from the Bloomfield Road management. Previously we'd have sat back defended and tried to hold on for the point. But new boy Nardiello came on for Hammill and Blackpool were as menacing as Osama Bin Laden and terrorised the tykes into submission.

Nardiello nearly scored straight away, he was passed a nice ball from Steve Kabba after David Vaughn smashed a long pass to the wings. However Nards effort was denied, again coming off a Barnsley backside.

Finally the seasiders got there goal towards the end, Steve Kabba was lined up 30 yards out for a perfect cross, however spotting a slight gap at the back of the net the front man opted to shoot. Firing it into the back of the net and giving the Seasiders the win they deserved.

The win takes the seasiders to 12th in the league and hopefully full of confidence heading into Tuesdays game against the knuckle dragging dingles.
