McAvoy to Switch to Union?

Is Nathan McAvoy going to follow Henry Paul and switch to Union? The Bradford Bulls' centre or wing says it is a possibility after contract negotiations with the Bulls have broken down. And the club to be linked with him? Gloucester.

So what do we know about Nathan Mc.Avoy? He is a Bradford Bulls player, who is friends with his former team mate Henry Paul.
He has represented England in league on many occasions. If he could show the skills and agility which he undoubtedly owns, he would be a
worthy addition to any Union team. However, why are Gloucester interested in him?

McAvoy has never experienced league before, but has played sevens and believes he could make the switch. Who would he replace?

It would have to be one of our current centres, either Robert Todd or Terry Fanolua. And on current peformances, Todd would probably make way.
However, this once again begs the question. Is Henry Paul, and his large wage, holding the team back?

At the moment we must put Henry Paul in the team. And if he's at full back that means no Thinus Delport. And if Thinus Delport is forced on to the wing, either Garvey, Simpson-Daniel or Beim will not be able to play, never mind Daren O'Leary. Which means the only viable option for Henry Paul is to play him in the centres, probably his most dangerous position. That way Thinus Delport can play full-back, with any combination of wingers. That way Todd and Tezza can be rotated. Surely the most dangerous team?

So, Why do we need McAvoy? He would no doubt boost our team, but Nigel Melville says we cannot currently afford him. Fair enough with such a big squad. However, Melville has not given up. But is it worth the risk again?
